Love the reframe of the linchpin concept.

The nonconformist in me is prompting a decision I'm currently making about going it alone after recent redundancy. Very scary, but the risk of going back into the misery machine of corporate life is even scarier. Even more poignant as next week I'm attending the funeral of a former boss who passed away suddenly in his mind 50s. A sharp reminder of the need to enjoy our lives.

I think those of us who are non-conformist reach a point where the cost of conforming to corporate life becomes intolerable. I often say I 'fell out of corporate' becasue, like you, I was made redundant and I just couldn't face putting myself back in that environment. However, for me it was a unconscious choice that I didn't realise until later, my subconscious sabotaged any attempts I made to go back. You have the benefit of making a conscious choice and, whilst it is scary, the fate of your former boss is a reminder that it might be even scarier to go back into corporate.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do next. Happy to have a chat about that transition. If that would be helpful, DM or email me.
